Open Question: I was told my loan was illegal. What can i do?
Open Question: I was told my loan was illegal. What can i do?
My mortgage company told me our loan was done illegally just to get us in a house. They also said they couldnt do much for us unless we can increase our income. Its all started when my fiance and I bought a home a year ago. They used my credit and his pay but we were never able to afford it from the get go. We were told once we get in we can refiance to pay off dept and lower our rent. We kept waiting on it to happen, then we were told the lady hasnt been working there for the past months and they cant do anything for us. Now our house is going in to foreclosure and my perfect credit is now all screwed up. Please if anyone knows of anything we can try to do let me know.

Open Question: Who really thinks Obama will be effective on the economy and foreign policy?
If you think he will be effective on these two issues - why? And "hope" isn't good enough to deal with the housing foreclosure, lost jobs and a possible recession. What are your reasons? (I am ACTUALLY curious. Maybe I'm mistaken about Obama.)

Resolved Question: How do I stop a foreclosure on my home? We are only 1 payment behind.?
I had talked to the people at the mortgage company in the past and they said that even though we were one month behind, as long as we kept making the payments each month that we would be ok.

I have about $6000 in credit cards and two car loans that equal $36,000. I would like to refinance my car loans and pay off my credit cards. Do you think anyone would give me a personal loan with a recent foreclosure on my credit?

Open Question: How's this pitiful primary season going?
Barack Obama and John McCain are exchanging barbs about the Iraq war as if they're the presumed nominees. McCain is a given, but Obama is being cocky. My complaint is; time is running out on Hillary Clinton… and the most pressing issues this country is facing are economical. Record foreclosures, high gas prices, cost of food is rising, health care, inflation etc. The clock is running out on a candidate who is more qualified to deal with these problems ( heaven forbid we go back to the policies of the 90's of peace and prosperity) but the media and the electorate can't seem to grasp it. Are we that stupid? Obama will continue making (MLK) speeches and McCain doesn't even understand economics. In the N.H. primary Obama had a double digit lead, but the voters go it right. I'm praying Texas and Ohio can do the same. Curious to know…the failure of one…could mean success for the greater number…

Open Question: Another 1099-A Question?
If my CPA didn't include any info from a 1099-A (foreclosure) I received (because he says I don't need to include it til they cancel the debt), can I go somewhere else and have them do an amended return to include it?? Outstanding debt is less than FMV and box '5' on 1099-A is checked yes. I believe I'm supposed to list the 'sale' but will I be taxed on the amount?? I do not want any problems with the IRS. I'm so confused and worried! I asked a similar question earlier and someone gave me this answer which makes A LOT of sense and got me thinking what would happen if I was supposed to include it and didn't. Like I said, I do not want any trouble from the IRS. "You do not have cancelled debt income–the FMV is more than the debt. You "sold" the house back to the bank for $320K. Fill out the forms accordingly. Your CPA apparently has NEVER done one of these. You have to show the $320 sale or the IRS computer will send you a nasty CP2000 letter next Christmas saying you "made" $320K (it will use a basis of zero)."
