Open Question: Has the economy trumped the Bradley factor in this presidential race?

Open Question: Has the economy trumped the Bradley factor in this presidential race?
I would like to believe that we are getting healthier in terms of our tainted history of racism, but I cannot help but to think that for most Americans the most important thing seems to come down to money. Perhaps money has always been our nemesis. We are seen as greedy and uncaring people especially when we have millions of Americans without health care insurance, good schools for our children, and millions of home foreclosures due to greed on Wall Street and corrupt institutions of money lending. Does economics, or money, trump most if not all of our prejudices and bigotry which often times manifest in both covert and overt racism?

Open Question: How long before I am evicted?
I just moved into a house with a few friends who have all been paying rent. There are 3 names on the lease and I moved in without getting on the lease. I just moved to the area so the plan was to get situated and then find a place on my own at some point. For the past few months my roommates have not paid rent because the apartment went into foreclosure due to the landlord going bankrupt. Rather than evicting us, he recommended we stay in the apartment as long as possible without paying rent (use the utilities, keep the place in good shape, etc.) We thought maybe we could get 2 months out of it but its now been about 6 months. All of my other roommates decided to move out so I am now on my own in the house. Still not paying rent, however, my name is not on the lease. I would like to ride this out for a few more months to save money and then get a place on my own, but what could happen? I believe you need to go through an eviction process (30 days to vacate, etc.) but do the same rules apply to someone whose name is not on the lease? What is the best case/worst case scenario?

Open Question: Need to get student loans, ideally by applying online tonight. Not sure where to go. Credit issues.?
I am a 30 yr old single mom and am trying to go to school full-time to become a nurse, and work part-time. I need student loans to help me get throught he next 2 years of nursing school. My ex is on the verge of losing the house (I suspect) that I cosigned for with him. He's nearly 35 days late on the mortgage payment and I fear my excellent credit is going down the tubes. I'm thinking that maybe I should apply for a student loan right now, before he ruins my credit with a foreclosure (if that's what ends up happening) in the next couple of months. Where should I apply? Is this something I can do online? Any tips? I'm looking for low interest student loans that won't make me pay until I'm in the nursing feild making money in a couple years. Advice? Thanks!
