More than 2,000 blighted, vacant homes would be demolished in Detroit under a proposal from Mayor Ken Cockrel Jr.'s administration to spend $47 million allocated by the federal government to assist with the foreclosure crisis. The plan, which requires City Council approval, would spend almost half the money to demolish 2,350 structures.
